Auf der Suche nach nachhaltiger Kinderausrüstung? Unsere Checkliste für (werdende) Eltern.

Looking for sustainable kids' gear? Our checklist for (expectant) parents.

In this article, we recently discussed how to adopt eco-friendly habits from birth. But wait a minute... have you seen this cute comforter yet? Oops, it's already in the shopping cart - we all know that feeling!

To stay true to your values, you can conduct a quick assessment before completing your purchase:

  1. Materials: Are the products made from sustainable and renewable materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, FSC-certified wood, recycled plastic, or other eco-friendly materials? Avoid products that contain harmful substances like PVC, phthalates, BPA, lead, or formaldehyde.

  2. Certifications: Look for third-party certifications or labels that indicate environmental friendliness, such as organic certifications (e.g., GOTS for textiles), FSC certification for wood products, or Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for textile safety. These certifications guarantee certain environmental, ethical, and health standards.

  3. Durability: Ideally, choose products that are durable and designed for a longer lifespan to reduce frequent replacement purchases. At The Little Move, we promote high-quality products that can be passed on or resold, contributing to a more sustainable product life cycle.

  4. Packaging: The best waste is the one we don't produce at all! Pay attention to whether the seller uses minimal or eco-friendly packaging. At The Little Move, we use environmentally friendly materials and rely on our eco-friendly packaging supplier. Our shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled paper and are fully recyclable.

  5. Second-Hand Options: Check if the equipment is also available as used or pre-owned gear to reduce waste and extend the lifespan of the products. Good news - you're already in exactly the right place!
